Memorial Entry

A memorial entry can refer to an accounting transaction that is not directly related to day-to-day operational activities, but rather is a 'memorandum' or recollection of a financial event. It can be used for non-regular or non-routine transactions.

Memorial entries are often used for adjustments, corrections, or other financial events that are outside the normal flow of daily transactions.

Difference with Journal Entry
Sometimes both terms are used interchangeably or refer to the same accounting functions. It is important to understand the specific terminology and meanings within an organization's accounting department to avoid any confusion. In general, journal entries relate to accounting records in a broader sense, while memorial entries may be specifically associated with non-trivial or memorable transactions.
