Batch Registration: Administration Settings

This article describes the administration settings on the Batch Registration tab. On this tab you will find the default settings for Numbering and Inventory System.

The administration settings form the basis of MKG. From the numbering of orders to the flow of processes, everything is determined by the administration settings.

Numbering

How do you want a batch number to be displayed within MKG? For each position you can choose from one of the following options: empty, administration, process, creation year, creation date and creation week. The entire numbering is composed of multiple positions:

  • 1st position. Selection field where the first part of the batch number structure can be determined. Most chosen option = Administration.
  • 2nd position. Selection field where the second part of the batch number structure can be determined. Most chosen option = Process.
  • 3rd position. Selection field where the third part of the batch number structure can be determined. Most chosen option = Creation Year.
  • 4th position. Selection field where the fourth part of the batch number structure can be determined. Most chosen option = Creation Date [mmdd].
  • Length Sequence no. The number of positions of the sequence number of the batch number: at least 3 positions.
  • An example is given of what the batch number will look like based on the choices made above.

Inventory System

For Items (with closed batch registration), ACM (description line using formula) and Description Lines (text) an inventory system is chosen that is the default is applied. Choice of inventory systems:

  • FIFO (first in first out): the oldest batch is processed first when consumed.
  • LIFO (las in first out): the newest/last batch is processed first when consumed.

  • Only reserve batch without certificate if not required. Checkbox to indicate whether batches with a certificate may also be reserved for PC lines where no certificate requirement applies.
  • Checking Unique Batch ID. Checks that you do not enter the same ID twice for a batch. MKG gives a warning, but does not block.

Please note!
Batch ID is a separate field and is not the same as the batch number. The batch number is generated by MKG based on the above settings.

  • Block in case of Non-unique Batch ID. Checks that you do not enter the same ID twice for a batch. MKG issues a warning and also blocks saving until a unique ID is provided. This is to prevent duplicate values from being entered in the Batch ID field if these are created manually or by import. A check is also performed when manually entering an ID number on a production order. This field is not included for multiple batches.
  • Delete Reservations at Batch Relocation. At deleting, it will be deleted; at blocking, the reservation will remain intact.

Choices for settings are made and recorded during the implementation process. Changes in this can have far-reaching consequences. Therefore, only make changes under the guidance of an MKG consultant or the MKG Helpdesk. Authorization of the administration settings is recommended so that no unexpected changes can occur without the knowledge of the system administrator.
