Intrastat Code

The Intrastat code is part of the system used to provide Eurostat with statistical data on the trading of goods between countries and regions of the European Union. Intrastat declaration is required whenever a product or service crosses the border of another EU country/region.

The Intrastat code is mandatory for consumer units in the Belgian, Dutch and Luxembourg markets. The Intrastat code is an 8-digit code to divide goods into categories. Intrastat codes are also called commodity codes or HS codes. The use, function and codes themselves are the same per country. The list of codes is updated annually based on the adjustments required for customs and statistics.

The commodity code lists have been designated by Eurostat in the Combined Nomenclature (CN). This Combined Nomenclature contains the classification of goods prescribed by the European Union for the statistics of international trade in goods.
