Installation of MKG Report Broker

During an initial installation of MKG, the broker is automatically installed as a service in Windows. When updating MKG to the new broker, certain actions need to be performed. This only applies if this broker has not been installed before.

Requirements to perform the installation:
• administrator rights

Step 1

To install the new broker during an update, the file installservice.cmd must be executed as an administrator (right-click on .cmd and choose 'Run as administrator'). Log in to the MKG Server as the machine administrator and navigate to the folder mkg\broker\... (for example: D:\apps\mkg\broker).

Step 2

In the command prompt, specify a user to be linked to the broker. This should be noted as follows: DomainName\UserName. If file exchange is needed across other servers, you must enter that domain user who can not only start the broker service on the MKG Server but also has rights on other involved servers. This can also be done later by providing the MKGBroker service with the correct user account.

This step can be skipped; after pressing Enter, the installation is executed, and the service runs as a local system. The prompt will automatically close.

Step 3

After installation, the service MKGBroker should be added to the Windows service list. This service continuously checks if tasks need to be executed. In this service, a domain user can still be linked to start the service and enable file exchange across multiple servers.

The service is set to 'Started' if the installation is completed successfully.

Step 4

If the service is running, you can log in to MKG. Start the module Batch Commands. Check the settings in this module and adjust them if necessary. Click on the Broker Settings button in the module's menu bar.

Step 5

Enter the correct values in the 'Broker Settings Maintenance' screen. In the Database Connection String field, the full database path of the server must be specified: -db mkg -H localhost -S 6000 -N TCP.
